This research institute is being operated, by which the professors belonging to the College of Pharmacy become the center, the relevant professors at other universities participate, and the graduate-school students and undergraduates belonging to each research center support a research. In order to activate the research institute, it secures full-time researchers, full-time assistant teachers, and research assistant teachers, and staff of assisting office work, increases foreign source credibility, and activates all the functions. Also, it expands a research of stability in chemical substances such as medicines and agricultural chemicals, and an entrusted research or a service research such as a research on development in new drug, and reinforces the function of research activity in the research institute through the industry-academic cooperation exchange. To do this,

first, the collected academic papers and notices are issued,
second, a research in international level is performed,
third, international academic symposium is opened, and the support for seminar is expanded,
fourth, the advanced research manpower is fostered,
fifth, the industry-academic cooperation in Chungcheong area is driven, thereby being the aim of making it contribute to community industrial development.

Loyalty on medicine, which has been expended in Korea since introduction of substance patent, is continuing to rise hugely year after year. Given considering the sales result in medical supplies as the tremendous item that is sweeping over the world market, it is obvious for the development in new drug to be the high-value added industry. Korea also recognizes importance of development in new medicine, thereby being steadily climbed the new-drug development research project that is supported by the Korea Science and Engineering Foundation, Korea Research Foundation, or Ministry of Health & Welfare. According to general statistics, about 10,000 new substances need to be compounded for launching one item of new drug in market, and 80 billion won is known to be required for the developmental cost. The recently rapid development in computer technology and the development in biochemical research are suggesting possibility for reduction in this research cost. Given seeing aspects of compositional organizations and members in this research institute, it is equipped with quality that is not inferior to the world’s prominent companies of showing diverse new drugs. Also, researchers in diverse majors, which are essential for each stage in new-drug development, are secured, thereby being equipped with ideal organization that can push ahead with developing new medicine through joint research between research teams in each. This research institute in the field, which requires enormous cost and period, established the following central research fields by considering economic efficiency and effectiveness of development in new medicine, and then is accelerating achievement of the objective.
